The New 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty - Coming soon!!
All New 6.7 ltr Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel Engine
Plenty of horsepower and torque. Impressive fuel efficiency. Quieter than you could have ever imagined. The new 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel is the result of a team of Ford engineers who constructed the new engine so that it could do what Super Duty® owners need it to do – be reliable for hundreds of thousands of miles, run hot, run cold, pull more, haul more & most of all work more.
You’re on the road, ready to pass, you hit the gas … wait for it … wait for it … then the turbo kicks in. No good. When you need power, you need it now. That’s why the 2011 F-Series moved the turbocharger between the cylinder heads and the top of the block, and moved the exhaust manifold inboard and adjacent to the turbocharger. Closer proximity means faster air displacement and more power. Tack on the fact that this turbocharger uses a light, single-shaft design, dual-sided compressor wheel and articulating turbine vanes that vary the flow of air based on the accelerator, and you have a turbocharger that gives you more power and torque. When you need it most.
It starts with the new common rail fuel injection system that delivers precise amounts of fuel under high pressure to a specially tooled combustion chamber where the pistons pound away. It continues with the new turbocharger that sits in the belly of this beast, instead of outside it, for reduced turbo lag. Better engineering also means better fuel efficiency. And it’s all powered by Ford.
The new F-Series Power Stroke® engine and 6R transmission deliver improvements to horsepower, torque, towing, hauling, reliability and fuel efficiency while meeting the new, stricter government diesel emissions requirements with a state-of-the-art emissions system.
More power. Maxed out fuel efficiency. And a lot of it has to do with this six-speed TorqShift® automatic transmssion. It has big, strong gears that take on extra torque, meaning you use fewer rpm because the torque converter locks up at lower speeds. More impressive are a powder metal sinter brazed assembly. This kind of transmission is normally reserved for high-performance engines because of its strength, durability and ability to withstand high heat. That means you can rev it harder and push it to more extremes and this transmission won’t quit.
SelectShift, the driver-initiated functionality, now has two modes. In Range Select, you can limit the top range of gears to 4th, 5th or 6th, so you can lock out overdrive and impede acceleration – perfect for controlled descents. In Full Manual mode, you can go all the way up and all the way down the gearbox to put you fully in control.
You work, you get paid. So when your truck is in the shop getting upfitted for changes in seasonal work, you’re left holding the bag. Not anymore. The 2011 F-Series Super Duty® offers the first-ever Live Drive Power Take-Off.* It lets you power commercial accessories via the transmission while the truck is driving or in Park — as long as the engine is on — and use applications like salt spreaders, highway tree-trimming equipment and more. And because everything is prewired from the factory, upfitting your truck at the shop happens a lot faster – and with fewer headaches.
Ford Work Solutions™ does more than help you reach your destination; it’s for helping you reach your goals too. This optional suite of features can make the truck an office on wheels. Not a virtual office – an actual, fully functional office* complete with a keyboard, Internet connection, printer, 4 GB of memory, Bluetooth®-enabled audio, Tool Link™ to help you organize and wirelessly inventory tools, and Crew Chief™ to help you keep tabs on your fleet of trucks. You could call it the corner office that corners the market.
The new instrument cluster features a driver-configurable LCD productivity screen where you’ll see more than you might have expected. Fuel economy. Towing information. Off-road data. Plus plenty of other vehicle information. And it’s all easy to navigate on the screen or with steering wheel switches that help you keep your eyes on the road while toggling through the content on the screen.
That new guy on your crew might not listen much, but at least your 2011 Ford F-Series Super Duty® does. With voice-controlled technology, Super Duty launches into a new era of emerging yet easy-to-use technologies. Just say the word and available SYNC®* lets you control your Bluetooth®-enabled cell phone and your MP3 player. Your voice also controls the available Navigation System features, which include detailed freeway exit, turn and ramp transition lane guidance, street name announcement and “Where am I?” current location display.
Standard on F-Series Super Duty® pickup and SRW Chassis Cab, trailer sway control helps keep whatever you’re towing doing exactly what you want it to do, not what gravity wants it to do. This stability and control happens through selective wheel braking and reduced engine power to help keep your trailer behind you through high winds, turns and rain-soaked roads.*
F-Series Super Duty® has the first factory-installed, fully integrated Trailer Brake Controller (TBC) available in a full-size pickup. No installation hassles or aftermarket worries. TBC is integrated with the ABS and synchronizes vehicle and trailer brakes for seamless braking, even with the heaviest loads. Telescoping trailer tow mirrors are included.
After so many years of leadership, we haven’t let off the gas for 2011. But along with standing on top of the mountain with towing and payload that might be able to haul away that mountain, we’re giving you access to that payload with smart innovations such as the available integrated tailgate step. Together, they’ll help save your back and save you from making too many trips.
F-Series Super Duty® continues to innovate with its enhanced Tow/Haul Mode. For 2011, the new Power Stroke 6.7L diesel and six-speed TorqShift® transmission utilizes automatic engine exhaust braking to improve driving confidence and minimize brake wear. While downhill driving in Tow/Haul Mode, it restricts the flow of exhaust back into the engine to maintain engine power and truck speed. This big-rig-inspired feature increases towing confidence without wearing down the transmission or heating up the brakes. So when you need extra control coming down that 8% grade towing 20,000 lbs., this new system on the Power Stroke Diesel gives you that extra driving confidence and safety.
When crawling up a steep hill, Hill Ascent Assist automatically works with ABS to help prevent you from sliding back down. The same feature is especially important when towing because it gives you all-important confidence in control up hills. Conversely, when going downhill you need the new Hill Descent Control™. To activate it, push the Hill Descent Control button, press the brake once and hold the steering wheel. Then the system applies brake pressure as needed to descend grades at a controlled speed. Plus, with Hill Ascent Assist, Super Duty® holds the brake on an incline to help prevent backward roll when switching your foot from the brake to the gas, giving more confidence to tow the big rigs.
Work is hardly ever in a perfect location. What starts as a level patch of dirt usually turns into a rutted mud pit. But that’s where an available electronic locking differential goes to work. When engaged, it helps provide excellent off-road traction in both 4x2 and 4x4 modes by locking the rear axle completely to maximize traction on both wheels simultaneously and make an extreme off-road feel anything but extreme.
It can’t be Built Ford Tough if it isn’t tough from the ground up. That’s precisely why on this frame the crossmembers are riveted, welded or both to optimize frame capability. There’s also the thick steel C-channel up to 6.7-mm thick. Put this and more tough measures together and you’ll know why Super Duty delivers best-in-class* payload and towing.
You already have the best max payload. With the segment-exclusive integrated tailgate step, you have the smartest way to access it. This step stows inside the tailgate, can be easily accessed when needed and includes a flip-up grab bar. Plus, it has a 350-lb. load capacity so even the big guys don’t have to sweat it.
F-Series Super Duty® pickups come equipped with standard class-exclusive AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®).* To help control your truck, it uses a combination of reduced engine power and selective wheel braking. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object, and RSC will automatically engage to help keep you under control.
A truck like the F-Series Super Duty® doesn’t get a facelift. It hits the gym and reshapes itself. That’s why the 2011 F-Series Super Duty builds upon the heritage of its predecessors by updating the leather-trimmed seats with a distressed look in Lariat and improving ease of access to all the features on the instrument panel, in the new, more organized flow-through center console and throughout the entire interior.
F-Series Super Duty® lets you configure your truck in so many different ways. From the many choices of series, like XLT and Lariat, to the variety of wheelbases like the 137-inch Regular Cab all the way up to the 200-inch Crew Cab Chassis Cab. And, of course, there’s the new 6.7L Power Stroke® Diesel to go along with them. No matter what you choose, Super Duty can match any need you have.
The engineers put the new 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel on the dynamometer, turned off the lights and checked back after it churned through 250,000 miles. It was still running strong. That’s the kind of durability and dependability Ford engineers built into this diesel.
